Dan McElrath
Dan McElrath holds a degree in Music Education from Furman University. He received his concert technical training at the C.F. Theodore Steinway Academy at the Steinway piano factory in Queens, N.Y., and the Yamaha Concert School in L.A.
Dan has been a piano technician since 1983 and a registered piano technician since 1996. He resides in Biloxi, MS. He travels throughout the Gulf Coast, providing concert services for:

After serving in the United States Air Force, Dan had a 35 year career in Alaska as a musician and piano technician.
In addition to his own business, Dan is a technician for the Steinway Gallery of Spanish Fort, AL, offering new and “like new” pianos in Mississippi from their inventory. As a player piano technician, including a certified QRS and Steinway Spirio Technician, Dan can accommodate all your piano needs and is trusted and approved by Steinway & Sons.
Dan serves as the Conductor and Artistic Director of the Mississippi Coast Chorale in his free time. He also continues to service pianos in Alaska and Maui.

Piano Tuning
You may find a good technician through your local college, university, or symphony. But, it is good to ask if someone is a Registered Piano Technician with the Piano Technicians Guild.
Regulation & Voicing
Pianos need regulation, which is a series of adjustments to mechanical parts to compensate for the effects of wear. With use pianos experience the compacting of cloth, felt, and buckskin, as well as dimensional changes in wooden and wool parts.
Climate Control System
Extreme swings from hot to cold or dry to wet are harmful to your piano. Dryness causes the piano’s pitch to go flat; moisture makes it go sharp. Repeated swings in relative humidity can cause soundboards to crack or distort.
Touch-Weight Analysis Correction
Touch weight is a complicated subject that deals with how a piano feels when played at various speeds and dynamic levels. Some pianos feel fast and lightweight, while others may feel heavy and sluggish.
